Brendan plays real life biotechnology executive John Crowley ,who along with his wife Aileen,  desperately search for a cure for two of their three children who suffer from the rare Pompe disease (or acid maltase deficiency).

Harrison Ford portrays Dr. Robert Stonehill A research scientist who helps the Crowley's. Dr.Stonehill is a composite character based on scientist and researcher William Canfield and Yuan-Tsong Chen a scientist and researcher from Duke University whose collaboration resulted in the  creation of Myozyme, the drug approved by the FDA and now used to treat Pompe disease.

Directed by Tom Vaughan, with a screenplay by Robert Nelson Jacobs is based on Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Geeta Anand's book "The Cure". Filming took place in Beaverton, St.Paul, Manzanita and Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington.
